The morphology of the surface of the platinum thin films was performed using a scanning electron microscope Zeiss Supra 35. The detailed surface topography studies were made using an atomic force microscope XE-100 Park systems company. Roughness parameters were calculated using the software XEI. The whole study was complemented by X-ray crystallography

This article reports the influence of the amount of platinum in carbon supported platinum nanoparticle solid-state ion selective electrodes for the determination of potassium. All developed electrodes showed excellent metrological parameters during potentiometric measurements; however, the most stable and reproducible linear response toward potassium ions was observed for electrodes with 15 wt% platinum nanoparticles in the carbon black layer. These electrodes also exhibited low potential drift as shown by monitoring the potential of the electrodes under open circuit conditions (7.00.5 μV h1 over 172 h) and applying constant current in chronopotentiometric measurements (40.30.9 μV h1 for a current of 10 nA).

The synthesis of 4,40-dibenzodifuran-2,20-bipyridine derivatives as ligands of organic ruthenium dyes for DSSC applications is described. Two new heteroleptic ruthenium complexes have been prepared and compared with commercially available N719 and Z907 dyes, using dip dyeing and flow dyeing methods in large area testing cells prepared for industrial purposes. The newly synthesized dyes revealed higher solar-to-electric energy conversion efficiency (h), measured at the AM1.5G conditions, up to 21% compared to N719 and up to 46% compared to Z907, and external quantum efficiency of 53%. These results can be explained by enhanced light-harvesting of the benzodifuran moiety of the dyes that is related to photocurrent.

In the work results of both light as well dark I-V measurements performed in SolarLab of Wroclaw
University of Technology of dye-sensitized solar cells manufactured by ML System Ltd. company are presented. The
strong impact of scan rate and direction on the shape of I-V curves and resulting cell electrical parameters is pointed out.

“For the first time, a single-piece, all-solid-state ion-selective electrode was fabricated with carbon black supporting platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs-CB) and a polymeric membrane. The PtNPs-CB, as an intermediate layer, was drop-casted directly on the solid substrate, and then an ionophore-doped solvent polymeric membrane was added in order to form a sensor. The performance of the newly developed electrodes was evaluated on the basis of potassium and nitrate ions.”

“A platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) layer is used for the first time as an ion-to-electron transducer in a solid-state ion-selective electrode (SC-ISE). The electrode was prepared by adding the PtNPs as an intermediate layer between the ionophore-doped solvent polymeric membrane and the electrical conductor. The new electrode presented a Nernstian slope, a very good reproducibility of the standard potential values and a small potential drift.”

“Large-scale (6000 cm2) dye solar cell modules were developed using a meander and integrated series connection design in combination with a glass frit-sealing technique. The manufacturing process, as developed at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) for glass frit-sealed dye solar cell modules, is based entirely on screen printing and does not require the interconnection of sub-modules. For the catalytic back electrode, a nanocolloidal platinum paste is used (3D-nano, Cracow, Poland).”

“Apart from a somewhat lower Rs, the main improvement for this module is in the RCT which is reduced to 0.2 Ω·cm2. The counter electrode therefore hardly plays any role anymore for the total resistance of the module which is measured to be 0.55 Ω. Due to this improvement, the FF was enhanced to 65 %.”
